Founded in 1965 for members of the Service interested in ornithology, RAFOS currently has approximately 250 members who are past and present members of the Armed Forces, MOD civilians or contract staff, and their families.
Organises field meetings and expeditions at home and abroad.
Undertakes systematic surveys to assist the RSPB, BTO, W&WT and other major bodies.
Assists with ringing operations using the skills of its members who are qualified ringers.
